Biographical information of Timothy T. Hsieh, the Journal's twenty-first Editor in Chief.
Timothy T. Hsieh served as Editor in Chief from 2021-2022 (Vols. 101-102), and is also the first Asian American Editor in Chief in the Journal's history. He acquired a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of California Berkeley, a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of California Los Angeles, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California Hastings College of the Law, and a Master of Laws from the University of California Berkeley School of Law. He was a Patent Examiner in Business Methods (Art Units 3695 and 3699 in Finance/Banking/Insurance as well as fields such as FinTech, business cryptography, blockchain and cryptocurrencies) from 2019-2022, and served a detail as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jameson Lee, Administrative Patent Judge at the Patent and Trial Appeal Board. He also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Roy S. Payne of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and to the Honorable Kandis A. Westmore of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and was a pro bono law clerk or judicial law fellow for the Honorable Michael A. Shipp of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. In 2021, he started teaching Patent Law, Intellectual Property and Antitrust Law at Oklahoma City University School of Law as an Assistant Professor of Law. In addition, he previously served as the Legislative Committee Chair for the Patent and Trademark Office Society, and is further admitted to the California State Bar.
